There was a time when the show ring and getting your cattle out in front of the commercial cattle producer was of much greater significance than it is now. It used to be a time that would bring seedstock and commercial producers together to talk cattle. With today’s technology there are many other ways to help in making decisions in regards to replacement genetics.
We do however, through our daughter, still enjoy taking a few heifers out on the road. It provides us with the opportunity to meet new people and see old friends. We do not base our genetic goals or make changes to our program because of the show ring; we simply accept it as a "waste of money" but a really good time! I suppose there are other past times that are a lot the same.
